My First Experience with Sephora Flash (Free Shipping Subscription)

My post about the Sephora Flash subscription program was by far the most popular blog post I wrote last week, so today I thought I'd let you know about my first experience with this service.

NOTE: Sephora Flash is a free shipping subscription program that costs $10 per year. With your $10 enrollment fee, you will receive free 2-day shipping on all orders placed at Sephora.com (no minimum order required) for an entire year, beginning when you enroll. For more info and to sign up, please see my original post HERE. Important: you cannot access the link to the Sephora sign-up page if you are on your phone--it will probably tell you that the page no longer exists. So PLEASE access that link from your desktop.

The Weekly Drugstore Makeup Sales (1/25 - 1/31)

Your weekly wrap-up of drugstore beauty sales and more...

The Lipstick League - week of 1.19.15

The Lipstick League Question of the Week:

Name a beauty item that was discontinued that you wish would come back,
even if it was only for a limited time.

G's answer: I could give you dozens (and dozens) of discontinued beauty products that I would love to see come back, even if for a limited time. But since the question is to name a (as in one) beauty item, I'm going to have to go with the one that is most special to me, on a personal level. And that would be a vintage lip gloss from Avon called the Berry Nice Lip Gloss Compact, which was shaped like an actual strawberry (but honestly, I would want every product on this page to come back, if possible, because I coveted them all!). I know I could probably find a Berry Nice Lip Gloss Compact on eBay and pay way too much for it, but I would love to own a "fresh" one that I could use, and taste and smell, again. It would bring me right back to childhood in the best way possible.

Swatches: NEW Nyx Spring 2015 Prismatic Eyeshadows and Intense Butter Glosses

Thanks to some fab ladies over on YouTube, I have swatches to share with you today of some of the new, permanent (not limited edition) Nyx products that are coming your way soon. Take a look!

NEW for Spring 2015: Nyx Prismatic Eyeshadows

First up, Laura (Mrslolalynn on YouTube) kindly shared these pics of the Nyx Prismatic Eyeshadows, which are new for Spring 2015. I don't know when they'll be available at Ulta or the Nyx site, but I'm assuming very soon. There are twelve shades in this range and Laura said they're very much like foiled shadows (think Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows). So pretty, right? I'm loving that deep green. I'm sure Laura will be doing a video on these soon, so check her channel for updates.

Now Available: NEW e.l.f. Studio Ultimate Kabuki Brush and New Essential Lip Balm Tint Shades

In case you don't follow e.l.f. on social media, I want to be sure you know about some new things now available for purchase on their website. Check it out:

NEW e.l.f. Studio Ultimate Kabuki Brush
(retail: $10 on the e.l.f. website)

From the e.l.f. website:
A true beauty multi-tasker, this brush works for blending, highlighting, contouring, and stippling. The densely compacted bristles distribute powder evenly to create a smooth and soft-focused finish. Flat edges fit the contours of your face while curved corners allow for targeted, precise application. The soft bristles of this Taklon brush are vegan-friendly and easy to clean.

Some of you have wondered if this might be similar to the NARS Ita ($55), Becca One Perfecting Brush ($49) or the EcoTools Face & Body Sculpting Brush ($11.99). To me it seems the most similar to the EcoTools brush, but of course I have no way of knowing for sure until I get it in my hot little hands (oh how I hope this will be at Target stores soon!).

This Weekend Only: 20% Off Your Entire Purchase at Big Lots

Many thanks to reader Holly G. for the tip about this one! If you haven't heard:

Saturday and Sunday (1/24 - 1/25), Big Lots Buzz Club Members will receive 20% off their entire purchase (with Rewards Card), no coupon required! If you are not already a Buzz Club member, it's free to sign up HERE and it is definitely worth your while if you shop regularly at Big Lots.

I've heard from several of you quite recently who are still spotting Maybelline Color Tattoos for $1 and L'Oreal Infallible shadows for $1 at Big Lots, and lots of other deals on name-brand makeup, skincare and haircare. I've even heard from some of you who are still finding Sephora by OPI polishes and China Glaze polishes at your stores for $1 each, and you can see one of my recent Big Lots haul here for other things you may still find in your area.  With this extra 20% off, you can do some serious damage without damaging your wallet.

I'd love to hear about your latest Big Lots beauty finds--please share with us! And thanks again, Holly G., for the great tip!

The New Sally Beauty Nail Studio

If you haven't been to your local Sally Beauty store lately, you may want to stop by and check this out:

Sally Beauty has changed the way their nail polishes are displayed in-store and created this new, whopping wall-o'-nails. As you'll probably recall, most of their nail polishes were already in wall displays, but not all nail products, at least in my local stores, were in the same general area. Now it looks like everything is all in one place, which sure does make it handy to compare and find dupes, right?

Have you been to your local Sally lately? If you've seen the new Nail Studio in person, I'd love to hear from you!

The NEW Ulta Rose Gold and Gilded Gold Palettes Now Available for Purchase

Last night as I was checking out the new arrivals on the Ulta site (which I'm prone to do on a regular basis), I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that the new Ulta Rose Gold Palette--the same one I gave you a sneak peek and review of HERE--is now available for purchase, and it's on sale! But that's not all...

Both the new Rose Gold Palette AND the new Gilded Gold Palette are both available for purchase (those links will take you to the listings), ahead of their Feburary 1st release date. I'm guessing these will be available in-store starting February 1st, but you may spot them there earlier. Also, I want to note that these palettes are part of the current B2G2FREE sale on Ulta cosmetics, and you can of course use the $3.50 off $10 coupon on these palettes, or the 20% off coupon if you received that in the mail.

If you missed my previous blog post about the Rose Gold palette, I posted swatches, an in-depth review and a comparison to the UD Naked 3 palette HERE if you'd like to take a look.

TheBalm on HauteLook Now through Tuesday

In case you didn't get the email...

TheBalm is on HauteLook again! As of the time of this post, nothing is sold out yet, so get over there ASAP if you're interested. If you'd like some recommendations, I have personally purchased and love all of the following items which are currently available on the HauteLook site:

  • InStain Blushes in Toile, Lace and Swiss Dot (so pigmented and last all day on my oily skin)
  • Down Boy Blush (this shade looks soft and subtle in the pan but it packs a punch on the skin--I LOVE it on light makeup days to sweep lightly on the eyes and cheeks)
  • Meet Matt(e) Nude Eyeshadow Palette (believe the hype on this one--these shadows are amazing)

Thanks to everyone who took the time to let me know about this sale!
